The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps is a youth program delivered in partnership by The Navy League of Canada and the Department of National Defence. The Sea Cadet program is an exciting program that provides opportunities and challenges relevant for today's youth. The program fosters the development of leadership skills, good citizenship and physical fitness. Sea Cadets are aged between 12 and 18 years of age.

What do the youth in our program get?

What do youth 'get' from our program? In addition to making life-long friends and enjoying experiences they just can't get anywhere else, cadets learn valuable life-skills like leadership, teamwork, self-discipline, organization and effective communication. Our program prepares today's youth to become tomorrow's community leaders.

ImageWelcome from Commanding Officer

Welcome to St. Lawrence!

The cadet program is filled with many opportunities for young Canadians ages twelve to nineteen years of age. The program is designed to allow anyone to participate. There is no cost to the parents to join, or for uniforms etc. Most of the activities that the cadets participate in are also free.

Because we are located in Kingston our cadets have many unique opportunities that many other cadet units don’t get. Last year our cadets were able to tour the HMCS Kingston when she was here for her namesake tour. Some of the activities your son/daughter can expect from cadets are seamanship, sailing, band, drill, and range. Some of the cadets also have the opportunity to go to summer camp for continued studies. The summer camps are located in Kingston Ontario (at the Royal Military College), Comox British Columbia, and in Shearwater Nova Scotia.

The program is also designed to promote team work, and leadership in a fun environment. The next few years are going to be very exciting for St. Lawrence. Recently we have joined with a sister corps in Milton Keynes England. We are looking forward to doing activities with them and are working towards an exchange.

In 2010 we will be celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the Navy. It is a great time to be a Sea Cadet in Canada and I look forward to meeting you.
